I believe this tools are not design for this purpose. This is the easiest way to do it. Now open your training file. To raise or lower the roof from the reference level specify a value for offset.

But i m not really sure if this is a best practice. You can join a roof to the top face of another roof and the wall below that roof if you select the wall as the target. I then drew a second roof with a 7 1 2 thickness on the inside of the first by using pick walls with extend into wall to core checked on and no overhang.
