Repairing hole in roof felt.
I have a normal uk type cold roof with interlocking tiles over the roofing felt.
And exposed misplaced roofing repair nails should be pulled and the holes patched.
Hi recently moved into a 1930 s semi and there are four or five holes in the membrane that runs beneath the roof tiles.
The tiles seem to be in reasonable condition so i m wondering if it is possible to repair the felt without having to take the tiles off.
Tiny holes in shingles are sneaky because they can cause rot a leaky roof and other damage for years before you notice the obvious signs of a leak.

Repairing a roof should be a top priority for any homeowner.
Cut away a square or rectangle of the felt directly around the damaged area so that you have nice clean and flat edges around the hole.
I rather not have to get all the tiles removed to repair them.
Measure the hole you have just cut and cut a piece of spare felt so that it is about 75mm larger than the hole all the way around.
You might find holes left over from a satellite dish or antenna mounting brackets or just about anything.
A common problem is when roofing felt on a roof with an enclosed soffit disintegrates around the eaves of a roof.
Temporary patch jobs are only effective until the rain starts.
As the tiles are in a good state i don t have any leaks at present but i rather fix the problem before it becomes an issue.
