Removing Collar Ties In Attic

Currently the ceiling joists in the garage are 2x8s spanning 16 ft.

Above each joist is a collar tie. I temporarily attached a couple of 2x4s to the rafters and made sure they were level to each other and along their. Collar ties or ridge straps to resist wind uplift shall be connected in the upper third of the attic space in accordance with table r602 3 1.
